Diderots Kleider eng

Diderots neue Kleider (Diderot's New Clothes)
The 12 original copper engravings and 2 text sheets that were used to make this book come from an original copy of the 11th volume of plates for
Diderot’s Encyclopédie: Recueil de planches, sur les sciences, les arts libéraux, et les arts méchaniques, avec leur explication. Dixieme et derniere livraison, ou onzieme et dernier volume. Paris 1772. The sheets remaining in the incomplete volume allowed 11 copies to be made; naturally, each one contains different engravings and text sheets. The about 250 years old found material explains the technique of silk weaving (Soierie). Text passages from

Hans Christian Andersen’s The Emperor’s New Clothes were letterpress printed onto this material in both German and English translation.
