karl ein karl eng

Konrad Bayer, karl ein karl
In his 1961 prose text, Bayer uses the name Karl in place of all the nouns, and also invents various adjectives based on Karl: karlüberströmt, karlschwer or karlübersät, for instance. I supplemented the text with pictures of famous Karls, including variants from other languages – Charles Darwin, for example, and Karol Wojtyla. I edited the images in Photoshop and had them printed using offset printing. Finally, the images were coated with a shiny UV lacquer in a screen printing process. I set and printed the text in my workshop in letterpress.

48 pages, uncoated paper, hand-set, letterpress printed, images offset printed, printed cloth-over-board,

16.7 x 24.3 cm, 50 numbered and signed copies. Flörsheim 2011.
