Konrad Bayer, karl ein karl
In his 1961 prose text, Bayer uses the name
Karl in place of all the nouns, and also invents various adjectives based on
Karl:
karlüberströmt,
karlschwer or
karlübersät, for instance. I supplemented the text with pictures of famous
Karls, including variants from other languages –
Charles Darwin, for example, and
Karol Wojtyla. I edited the images in Photoshop and had them printed using offset printing. Finally, the images were coated with a shiny UV lacquer in a screen printing process. I set and printed the text in my workshop in letterpress.
48 pages, uncoated paper, hand-set, letterpress printed, images offset printed, printed cloth-over-board,
16.7 x 24.3 cm, 50 numbered and signed copies. Flörsheim 2011.
