Wallace Stevens
Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird / Dreizehn Arten eine Amsel zu betrachten
The book begins with the original English of Stevens’ poem cycle. It is followed by a series of 13 letterpress graphics, each on a double page. I used typographic materials: letters and brass rules, along with linoleum blocks and zinc plates. The relative transparency of the Japanese paper allowed me to include shapes from the preceding and following pages in the images. The German translation of the poems follows, printed in the same way as the original version, in 20-point Futura Book.
